Spotlight: This class is an introduction to the core ideas behind sketch comedy; no prior experience required. You’ll learn every part of the sketch process, from generating ideas and writing sketches to rehearsing and performing them on stage. Through guided exercises and collaborative writing, you’ll explore how sketches are built, what makes ideas funny, and how characters, patterns, and point of view drive comedy. By the end of the class, students will have created original sketches that will be performed in a final showcase. This class is about understanding how sketch works and gaining confidence creating comedy in front of an audience. Class sessions will meet offsite at a separate location (The Festival Center in Adams Morgan) for four weeks. Through guided exercises and collaborative writing, you’ll explore how sketches are built, what makes ideas funny, and how characters, patterns, and point of view drive comedy. In the final week, students will perform their original sketches in a graduation showcase at the DC Improv Comedy Club.

Bad Medicine

The Bad Medicine Show is a high-energy sketch comedy spectacle that’s equal parts dark, cerebral, and delightfully absurd. It’s the perfect blend of smart and stupid fun from a merry band of DC friends who dive headfirst into the ridiculous. When we're not cracking up audiences at the legendary DC Improv Comedy Club, we’re hitting the road, bringing the laughs to comedy festivals like Toronto Sketchfest, SF Sketchfest, and Philly Sketchfest. Oh, and we don’t just perform, we teach the fine art of sketch comedy too.
