New Shows: Wil Sylvince and Kate Quigley

Two new headliners for our lounge! Wil Sylvince will be here May 18-19. He's a longtime favorite in the New York scene (and, fun trivia fact, he was Patrice O'Neal's roommate). And we'll have Kate Quigley here June 22-23. Check out these video clips. (Just be advised that Kate has NSFW humor.)

This Week at the Club: April 2-8

Taylor Tomlinson

Our first two shows of the week are sold out: the podcast Watch What Crappens will be playing to packed showrooms on Tuesday and Wednesday. The rest of the week, the showroom belongs to Taylor Tomlinson, who makes her DC Improv headlining debut. She's got great energy and we loved seeing her as a feature act last fall. Tickets are $17 Thursday and Sunday, and $20 Friday and Saturday.

The lounge has four different shows, and two of them are already sold out: the Comedy School Showcase (Friday 7:30) and ComedySportz improv (Saturday 7:30). You can still get tickets for our Friday 9:45 DMV Showcase, which is $17, or the Late Night Improv show on Saturday at 9:45. Tickets for that are $15.

Low Ticket Warning

Rory ScovelWhatever your religion, we can all agree during this holy week that the greatest joy in life is securing tickets for a comedy show well in advance, before it is sold out. Here are the events on our schedule that are filling up. The lounge is 60 seats, main showroom is 285:

  • Rory Scovel (March 29-31): The Saturday early show is sold out. We have 34 tickets left for the late show. On Friday, the early show has less than 60 seats available. The other two shows (Friday 9:45 and Thursday 7:30) are down to the last 75 tickets.
  • DMV Showcase (March 30): We have two seatings for this showcase in our lounge on Friday. Only 16 tickets left for the 9:45 seating.
  • Comedy School Showcase (April 6): Just 5 tickets left for this Friday night lounge show.
  • ComedySportz improv (April 7): Our montly "all ages" improv show (meaning you can bring your kids) in our lounge has 18 tickets left.

  • Mick Foley (April 12): Just 54 general admission an 19 VIP tickets left for this evening with the pro-wrestling icon.

Five new shows added

We had a busy Monday, and our web guy is finally recovered enough to tell you about all the new shows we forced him to add. You can find video of any of these performers by clicking through.

  • July 12: Medium Cindy Kaza. This time through town, Cindy will be in our lounge showroom, so attendance is limited to 60. That means if you're hoping to chat with the spirit world, you have even better odds of that happening.
  • July 20-22: Luenell. It's another DC Improv debut, although Luenell isn't an up-and-comer. She's been on top of her game for years. (If the face looks familiar, think back to "Borat" and you'll realize why.)
  • August 9-12: Corinne Fisher and Krystyna Hutchinson. The creaters of the wildly popular "Guys We F***ed" podcast are bringing their stand-up to DC for a weekend.
  • September 6-9: Arnez J. He we just part of a concert at Constitution Hall -- if you missed that, here's your chance to see him up close.
  • October 11-14: Dave Attell. This is half a year away, but Dave is one of stand-up comedy's best. And he put it on his website, so what the heck, you can start buying tickets.

Rory Scovel

We start the festivities on Tuesday, with a free-admission improv class graduation show. Then there's a stand-up class graduation ($10 tickets) on Wednesday night. The weekend belongs to DC favorite Rory Scovel, who will headline Thursday through Saturday, with support acts John Conroy and Danny Rouhier. Tickets for Rory's shows are $25.

We're also busy in the lounge. Our latest pun contest, the Pun DMV Remix, is on Wednesday. It's sold out. Friday night we have DMV showcases ($17 tickets) at 7:30 and 9:45. Saturday sees the return of the world's greatest comedy competition. The early seating of Comedy Kumite is already sold out, but you can get tickets for the 9:45 seating if you hustle.

The club is closed on Easter Sunday.

New Podcast: Taylor Tomlinson

Taylor Tomlinson makes her DC Improv headlining debut in two weeks, so we're saying hi to her in advance! We talk about starting comedy young (she's 24), her very unusual stand-up origin story and the joys of self-help.

This Week at the Club: March 19-25

Jim Norton

This week's magic starts on Thursday, when Jim Norton kicks off a five-show run. We haven't seen Jim for a few years so this should be great. The last three shows are already sold out, but you can get tickets for Thursday or the Friday early show. We're also hosting a late-night Thursday podcast -- Lovett Or Leave It will be in town -- but that is already sold out.

In the lounge showroom, we have a few student tour groups using the room early in the week. The first "public" shows are Friday, when we have DMV showcases at 7:30 and 9:45. We also have a Saturday 9:45 show with Porkchop Volcano, one of our favorite improv troupes. The showcases are $17 and Porkchop Volcano is $15.

The club is closed on Sunday.
