This Week at the Club: August 6-12

Guys We Fd

Main Showroom: It's a double DC Improv debut, as Krystyna Hutchinson and Corinne Fisher are bringing their stand-up tour to the club for the first time. They're well known as the creators of the "Guys We F****" podcast. Tickets are $25-$27, and the shows are Thursday through Sunday (and we already sold out on Thursday).

Lounge Showroom: We have a private event on Friday, so your lounge options this week are all on Saturday evening. At 7:30 there's an "all ages" improv comedy show with the ComedySportz troupe. Then those improvisers stick around for Late Night Improv at 9:45, when you have to be 18 or older to attend. Tickets for either of those shows are $15.

New Shows / Schedule Changes

We'll start with the bad news: Two cancellations came across our desks this morning. Chris Hardwick won't be coming in November, and Tommy Davidson pulled out of his December dates. We'll keep you posted on any replacements.

And now it's on to the new ... Challenge Mania Live is a variety show / podcast taping featuring two stars from MTV's "The Challenge." They'll be here for an afternoon show on October 13. We have also renewed our Thanksgiving tradition -- Donnell Rawlings is coming back yet again for six shows, the Friday through Sunday after turkey day. And looking at the very end of the year, our New Year's Eve headliner (and a few nights before) is Dov Davidoff. We'll have NYE on sale shortly, but December 28-30 is on sale now.

This Week at the Club: July 30-Aug. 5

Sheryl Underwood

Main Showroom: The festivities kick off on Thursday with the latest edition of Pun DMV, our pun competition. It's only $6 to watch -- and if you're feeling brave and you get there early, you can even sign up for the tournament event. Friday, Saturday and Sunday belong to Sheryl Underwood, who's doing two shows each night. Tickets to see Sheryl are $32.

Lounge Showroom: Friday it's a split doubleheader. The early show is a Comedy School Showcase, where grads of our standup class perform. Tickets are $10. The late show (9:45) is a DMV Showcase, which features five up-and-coming comedians from the area. Those tickets are $17. On Saturday night, we have two shows with headliner Tony Deyo. Tickets are $20.

John Witherspoon All this rain is just the heavens openly weeping because of all the comedy shows they missed out on. Be smarter than the heavens. Get your tickets in advance. Here are events that are filling up (or full). Our main showroom is 285 seats, and our lounge is around 60.

New Shows

Three new headliners are on the way! In chronological order: Seaton Smith is back in our lounge showroom again, September 28-29. He started in DC and he likes coming back here. It's possible these shows will also serve as an album recording session.

Ms. Pat makes her return to the club October 19-20. She's replacing Tony Roberts, who canceled for some reason. It's been a good year for Pat -- if you want to get ready for the shows, get a copy of her memoir, "Rabbit." It was published last year.

Finally, Roy Wood Jr. will be on our stage December 6-8. This will be our third year in a row with "The Daily Show" star.

John Witherspoon

Pretty straightforward this week. In the main showroom, we have comedy icon John Witherspoon headlining six shows, Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $27 for general admission and $32 for VIP (although most of the VIP tickets are already gone at this point).

In the lounge showroom, we're presenting a DMV showcase on Saturday night. Shows at 7:30 and 9:45, with the following lineup: Naomi Karavani, Winston Hodges, Rahmein Mostafavi, Kasaun Wilson and J-L Cauvin. Tickets are $20.

Low Ticket Warning

Red Grant Some people feel that limits are only in our minds and that with positive thinking we can do anything. But we strongly feel the city regulations limit us from selling more than 285 tickets to our main showroom, and 60 in our lounge. So maybe get tickets to these shows before they sell out:

This Week at the Club: July 16-22

Red Grant

Our plans for this week changed a bit, but they're still really great plans. There's an improv class grad show (free admission) on Tuesday, and then a sold-out show with Mellisa Villasenor (of Saturday Night Live) on Thursday.

The schedule change is Friday through Sunday. Originally we had Luenell headlining, but we found out on very short notice that she was cancelling. Our replacement is Red Grant (who, like Luenell, is known for touring with Katt Williams). Tickets are $20-$25. (All the showtimes and ticket prices are the same as they were for Luenell.) Red's also a DC native, so you can support a hometown hero.

Speaking of great comedians who lived in the area, we have Brian McDaniel in the lounge showroom all weekend. He spent his early years in Bowie, Maryland. He'll be doing two shows Friday ($17) and two more Saturday ($20).
