He Are the Champion

Dominic Rivera

Comedy Kumite 16: Congratulations to Dominic Rivera, who won both editions of our "Comedy Kumite" stand-up tournament on September 8. It's hard to win this event even one time, so doing it twice in an evening is quite the accomplishment. Check him out at the "Stand Up For Mental Health" event on October 16.

Arnez J Now that we're into this chilly, 95-degree autumn weather, you can start focusing on indoor entertainment. To help you plan ahead, here are shows that are filling up (or already full). Our main showroom is 285 seats, and our lounge is around 60.

The following events are entirely sold out:

New Shows ... and lots of 'em

Do we have new shows? You know we do. Almost too many to fit into one post. So let's go with the trusty bulletted list ...

September 3, 2018

This Week at the Club: September 3-9

Arnez J

Main Showroom: We open on Wednesday for the Time Machine Roast -- comics playing historical figures and insulting eachother. Oh yeah! Tickets are just $15. The rest of the week (Thursday through Sunday) we'll be packed for shows with Arnez J. Right now the only available tickets are for Thursday; no word yet if a seventh show will be added. Tickets are $30.

Lounge Showroom: You can see eight great comedians compete in a stand-up tournament when Comedy Kumite returns on Saturday night. It's the sweet 16th edition. Tickets are $18 and there are seatings at 7:30 and 10. Sunday we have our Make Up Party game night, but that's already sold out.

Low Ticket Warning

Arnez J Our low ticket warning guy is back from vacation! And he's mildly OCD so he needs to write one of these, even if it's two days later than usual. Here are events that are filling up (or full). Our main showroom is 285 seats, and our lounge is around 60.

The following events are entirely sold out:

This Week at the Club: Aug. 27 - Sept. 2

Steve Byrne

Main Showroom: Pretty simple this week! On Tuesday night you can watch an improv class do its graduation show at 8 p.m. That's free admission (but be aware that there's no kitchen for that show, and you order drinks at the bar). Thursday through Sunday is the triumphant return of Steve Byrne. He's doing six shows, with tickets set at $22 for Saturday and $20 all other days.

Lounge Showroom: Once again, you can check out some outstanding local comedy in our lounge this weekend, with DMV showcases running each night. There are two shows on Friday (for $17) with Haywood Turnipseed, Brittany Carney, Martin Amini, Rob Maher and LeClerc Andre.. Then on Saturday (for $20) we have two shows with Andy Kline, Sean Gabbert, Mike Brown, Alex Scott and Matty Litwack.

Comedy Kumite 16: Theresa Concepcion

Theresa Concepcion

Nickname: La La

If not for comedy, I'd be: paying a lot more in therapy.

I'm fighting for: big booty Latinas everywhere.

Favorite psychological warfare technique: talking people to death

When I retire from Kumite fighting I will name my boat: Palante

New Shows: Emmy Blotnick

An excellent comedy writer makes her DC Improv debut October 5-6. Emmy Blotnick is currently writing for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," and before that she was the head writer on Comedy Central's "The President Show." She also worked on "Not Safe with Nikki Glaser." We saw her in action at the Just For Laughs comedy festival this summer, and now she's headlining our lounge for four shows. Check it out:
