This Week at the Club: January 21-27

Big Jay

Main Showroom: The week starts on Wednesday night with the latest edition of Pun DMV, our pun competition. Tickets are just $6. And if you're feeling adventurous, get to the club when doors open and sign up for the tournament event.

Thursday through Saturday we have Big Jay Oakerson headlining. Jay had a half-hour Netflix special come out in the fall, and he's still crushing it on Comedy Central's SiriusXM channel four days a week. (Check out "The Bonfire.") Tickets are $17 Thursday and $20 on the weekend.

Sunday night it's the Super Bowl of DMV comedy. Past winners of the Improv's "Comedy Kumite" stand-up tournament are back for a Tournament of Champions. Tickets to that are just $17.

Lounge Showroom: We're already sold out Thursday for Couples Therapy -- and if you want to see the next edition on March 14, get those tickets soon, because that's almost sold out. On Friday we have Ryan Conner and Andy Hendrickson co-headlining two shows, at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. The early show is almost sold out, but you can still get tickets ($22) for the 10 p.m. show.

Saturday evening is the monthly shows with ComedySportz improv. The 7:30 show is the family-friendly edition where you can bring kids. The 9:45 show is adults only (18 and up). Tickets for those are $15.

New Shows: Mike Finoia, Jenny Johnson

We have added two more headliners for the lounge showroom. On St. Patrick's Day weekend (March 15-16) Jenny Johnson makes her DC Improv debut. You may have seen her on "Drunk History," or you might even remember that time she got Chris Brown to delete his Twitter account. Good stuff.

The following month, Mike Finoia is returning on Easter weekend (which is also 4/20 weekend, if that's your religion). He sold out the lounge for five shows last year and he's back to do four more April 19-20.

This Week at the Club: January 14-20

Main Showroom: We are open early in the week, but all shows through Sunday are already sold out. (Girls Gotta Eat on Monday/Tuesday, Esther Povitsky on Thursday, and Lavell Crawford on Friday and Saturday.) There are a handful of tickets left for some of Lavell Crawford's Sunday shows, but they will sell out. Plan ahead.

Lounge Showroom: Our first lounge headliner of 2019 is here. Adrienne Iapalucci is doing two shows Friday ($17) and two shows Saturday ($20). You can check her out on the latest episode of the DC Improv's podcast (just scroll down a little, we posted it in this blog).

New Podcast: Adrienne Iapalucci

Adrienne Iapalucci calls in to say hi before headlining our lounge January 18-19. We're talking about dark humor, the perils of having your mom do stand-up, and what it meant to grow up in the Bronx. Listen!

New Shows: Story District, Greg Proops

It's never to early to think about the spring! Starting this March, Story District will be producing a competitive storytelling series in our main showroom, the last Tuesday of each month. It runs for six months, and the theme is "Worst Case Scenario" -- each show features storytellers on different "worst" experiences. Tickets for each show are $20 and they're all on sale now -- here's the March 26 show if you want to take a peek.

And in other fun news, Greg Proops is coming back to the club for the first time since 2015. He'll be here the weekend after Memorial Day, May 31 - June 2. The Friday and Saturday shows are stand-up, while the Sunday show is a taping of Greg's proopcast, "The Smartest Man In The World."

This Week at the Club: January 7-13

Mike V

Main Showroom: We're open on Wednesday for a one-night-only engagement with Amir K. Tickets for that are $20. We follow that up on Thursday with our monthly open mic night. That one is free admission, so the government shutdown is not an excuse. Be there.

Friday through Sunday, the main stage belongs to Mike Vecchione. His recent album was named by Vulture as the best comedy recording of 2018, so he's kind of a big deal. It's a really fun show -- tickets are $20 Friday, $22 Saturday, and $15 Sunday.

Lounge Showroom: Friday night we have another DMV Showcase coming your way: Umar Khan, Naomi Karavani, Matt Bergman, Sean Savoy and Kandace Saunders. Tickets are $17. On Saturday night it's Comedy Kumite, our stand-up comedy tournament. Tickets for that are $18, but only the late show is available, and even that is almost sold out. Sunday night we're already sold out with the latest Make Up Party competition night.

Schedule Change: John Heffron / Mike Vecchione

John Heffron was scheduled to headline January 10-13, but he's had something come up and he won't be able to do the shows next weekend.

Our new schedule has open mic night on Thursday, and then Mike Vecchione on the weekend. Mike released a new album in 2018, and Vulture called it the best comedy recording of the year. He's a great joke writer with an easygoing delivery, and we're happy to say this is the third year in a row that he's headlining our main showroom. Check him out!
