This Week at the Club: Jan. 22-28

Lavell Crawford

It's busy! In our main showroom, we're already sold out for the weekend -- Lavell Crawford will be performing to eight packed houses, Friday through Sunday. You can still see some comedy in the big room, though. We have open mic night (free admission) on Wednesday, and the Time Machine Roast ($10) on Thursday.

In our lounge, you can get a team together and play at Happy Hour Trivia on Thursday night (free admission). We also have tickets available for a DMV showcase ($17) on Friday. The Saturday showcase is already sold out.

New Shows: Michael Blackson, murder and more

We'll do this in calendar order. The 12th edition of Comedy Kumite was last weekend, so the 13th is now scheduled for March 31 in our lounge. (It's our stand-up comedy tournament, and it always sells out the lounge because it's awesome.) The guys from Die Laughing Productions are also coming back this spring with "Smooth Criminal," a murder mystery comedy show that doubles as a Michael Jackson tribute show. That's on April 11.

Last but certainly not least, we have once again trusted Michael Blackson with Memorial Day weekend. He did 11 shows in four days in 2017, because the demand is huge. All you advance planners, get on it.

January CHAMPIONS!

We had some comedy competitions over the weekend, and we have to give a quick shout-out to the winners. Mia Jackson was the champion at Comedy Kumite on January 13 -- we held tournaments at 7:30 and 9:45, and she won both of them.

On Sunday night, the sketch team Designer Breeds won our Make Up Party challenge, with a great country music send-up.

This Week at the Club: Jan. 15-21

Mike Vecchgione

This week, our main showroom belongs to Mike Vecchione -- on short notice, he stepped in for Andrew Schulz. He'll be doing shows Thursday through Saturday. (Tickets are $17 Thursday and $20 on the weekend.) Mike puts on a really fun show ... take a chance and you won't regret it.

There's also plenty in our lounge showroom. Thursday we have the improv troupe Jive Turkey putting on a long-form show, along with a few of their favorite local troupes. Tickets for that are $5. We've got our latest DMV stand-up showcase on Friday -- two seatings, and tickets are $17. Then we're back to improv comedy on Saturday. The ComedySportz show at 7:30 is already sold out, but you can get $15 tickets for Late Night Improv at 9:45.

We are closed on Sunday night.

New Shows: Lavell Crawford and Jive Turkey improv

Just a quick note: We have added an eighth (and final) show for Lavell Crawford (Jan. 26-28). It's a Sunday matinee with a 3:30 showtime, and the tickets are $35.

We also have a late addition to our lounge calendar. The improv team Jive Turkey will be doing a long-form show on January 18 (Thursday), and they're bringing some of their favorite DC-area troupes with them. Tickets are $10.

This Week at the Club: Jan. 8-14

Orny Adams

We're excited to have Orny Adams back at the club this week, Thursday through Sunday. His latest special debuted on Showtime in fall 2017, so we're going to see a lot of new material -- and Orny is a fantastic performer. Tickets are $17 Thursday and Sunday, and $20 Friday and Saturday.

The lounge showroom is busy Friday through Sunday. We've got DMV showcases on Friday, followed by the Comedy Kumite stand-up tournament on Saturday. Tickets are $17 for either of those nights. On Sunday, it's the Make Up Party -- we challenged funny people to come up with five minutes of comedy on the theme of music, and you can see what they came up with. Tickets are $5.

New Shows: Mike Vecchione and Brent Morin

One year, we will go 12 months without a schedule change. 2018 is not that year. Andrew Schulz took an acting job that conflicted with his shows January 18-21. We are stoked to have Mike Vecchione as his replacement, January 18-20. DC Improv regulars will remember that Mike kicked off our "Next Wave" series by headlining the main showroom in January 2017.

Another happy return: Brent Morin will be here April 26-29. He's a HIGHLY entertaining performer, and every time we see him he keeps growing as a comedian. Should be a fun week.
