This week in podcasting

Jamie LeeSome of our headliners have free time during the day, and they fill those hours by producing glorious podcasts. Here are the latest episodes from performers on our schedule:

  • Christina Pazsitzky (December 9-10): "That's Deep Bro" touches on comedy and philosophy. Christina's November 29 episode lays down some rules for the holiday season.
  • Bryan Callen (January 12-14): This show features Bryan and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub. The December 1 episode is their first in a new studio!
  • Gilbert Gottfried (February 2-4): Gilbert jokes that "The Amazing Colossal Podcast" was his excuse to talk to his screen heroes before they died of old age. It has expanded to a LOT more than that. The December 5 episode was recorded live in New York with Whoopi Goldberg.
  • Jamie Lee (February 17-19): Jamie just started her "Best of the Worst" podcast a few weeks back. Episode 12, posted on December 1, features Jamie and comedian Merrill Davis talking about their worst days on the job.
  • Brad Williams (March 2-5): Mo Mandel is the guest on the December 5 "About Last Night," hosted by Brad and Adam Ray.
  • Tom Segura (March 23-26): There is never a shortage of "Your Mom's House." Which also features Christina Pazsitzky, by the way.
  • Big Jay Oakerson (April 27-30): Dave Attell is the guest on the December 5 "Legion of Skanks," aka the most offensive podcast on earth.
  • Jo Koy (June 2-4): Michael Yo is the guest on the December 1 episode of the Koy Pond.

DCI Update: December 6

This Week at the Club ...

Our latest stand-up comedy class graduates on Thursday (12/8) with a showcase show. Tickets are just $10.

Friday and Saturday, Christina Pazsitzky takes over the main room. We last had her here in March 2015 -- and since then, she had her first kid. Should be very cool to see what's new in her life. Only four shows with Christina, so plan ahead ...

And as for Sunday, if you didn't plan ahead, you're out of luck. Both shows with the wellRED comedy tour are sold out. Our only lounge offering this week is also sold out -- it's the one-year anniversary show for the Hey Frase podcast.

Jo Koy

New for 2017

We made a few fun additions to our 2017 calendar this week. Return appearances are now locked in for Ms. Pat (April 6-9) and Big Jay Oakerson (April 27-30). If you're looking way down the line, we've also got Jo Koy back in the fold June 2-4. We haven't seen Jo for a few years so it's awesome to have him returning as we celebrate our 25th anniversary all year long.

Sketchy Characters

Over at the comedy school, we have now opened registration for the 2017 edition of the SNL Sketch Writing class. It's a two-day weekend workshop in April (3 hours each day) taught by Ali Farahnakian, a former SNL writer who went on to found the Peoples Improv Theater in New York City. Lots of aspiring comedy writers have taken this over the years -- we have never NOT sold out this class. So if you're intrigued, plan ahead.

Holiday Shopping?

This is the time of year when lots of people start calling for Improv gift cards. And believe us, we WANT to help you out. Just make sure you leave some time for processing and shipping.

Stick around to the end for an amazingly cool story about the December 1 show.

Headliner of State: Theodore Roosevelt

Teddy Roosevelt believed in "the strenuous life," and part of that was the strain of having so damn much fun. Wherever TR went, laughter was sure to follow.

Joe Wiegand (teddyrooseveltshow.com) is our excellent expert. As a "reprisor," Joe transforms himself into the president to educate and entertain audiences all over the country. (Performance is in his blood -- his dad is the legendary "saloon comic" Jim Wiggins.) He's got great insight into TR's "machismo" based storytelling, his infectious personality and his role in the evolution of presidential humor.

Have a listen -- you'll be deeeeeelighted.

MUSIC: Hail Columbia, "Teddy's Boogie Woogie" by Teddy Powell and His Orchestra, "Moose the Mooche" by the Charlie Parker Septet.
