TESTIMONIALS
"Thanks for all the help in the class. I've wanted to try this for a really long time, but never really knew how to get started, and you helped immensely. I never would have created this "character" without your help. Whether I'll go anywhere with it remains to be seen, but it sure as hell has been fun this far.”
—John (DC Improv Student May 2008)
"Seriously though, the people in both classes (including you!) have been so supportive of each other - you foster a wonderful environment. I'm telling everyone I know about the classes - several of my friends want to enroll!”
—Katherine (DC Improv Student 2007)
”You are the best teacher I have taken from that is really hooked in to the current stuff and doesn't try to stereotype people and put them in comedy boxes if you know what I mean....Anyway, I would love to take another class with you.”
—Valerie (DC Improv Student 2007)
"Thank you Matt. You have forever changed my life. You are the best instructor I have ever had. I have dreamed of being comic my whole life but was always overcome with stage-fright and not being able to write a joke. Thank you again Matt."
—(DC Improv 2005 Student)
"Again thanks- I have thought about how amazing it is that a true industry guy, somebody who actually makes a living off of this, is willing to open up the black box and give us a leg up. Damn! Thanks!"

"I cannot thank you enough for all your help. You have generously shared your comedy expertise with us, and made us look like comedians, no matter how nervous we are inside. You know it's not easy reaching for a star, but you have set us on our way."

"To be honest, I never thought I’d get so much out a comedy class! Like everyone else in DC, I had gotten into a routine of going to work and then home again. I always wanted to do stand up or something, but just didn’t know how. With the open mics and the new contacts, my life is completely different. Plus, I get to say fiercely dirty things in public – can you say “dream come true?” Thank you for your encouragement and support, as always. I plan on going to lots of open mics over the next year, and see what happens from there. All the best, mate. "

"I wanted to sincerely thank you for your instruction, inspiration, and ideas in this class. I had a blast tonight, when I walked on that stage it was like when the power comes back on after a storm and every light in the house comes on. I had stage fright in the rehearsal in class, but absolutely none tonight."

”Give yourself a pat on the back. You wouldn't have caught me on stage thinking I was funny if I didn't take your class.”
—(DC Improv Summer 2006 Student)
”Matt--Thanks, thanks, thanks! Yes, your careful instruction and your unending support do wonders. I really am beginning to understand just how hard this funny business is! Never mind teaching about the pyramids. I had fun and am looking forward to the BIG SHOW. By the way, you are so amazingly quick with your jokes and responses--it is so clear why you've made a living doing this. I'm glad you decided to share your skills with folks like me.”

”Thanks a lot Matt, your feedback really means very much to me and I take it very seriously. Yeh, I wasn't sure if I should do the "n" joke, but I got some laughs and learned a lot just by doing it; even a risky word like that, if used in the right timing, can be effective. (I would have to be out of my mind to use that out of context.) Thanks again, your class has taught me so much, and not just about stand up, although I would like to live in the place that "funny" does. “
