There's nothing to fear when it comes to writing sketch comedy! In this class, you will write funny sketches, plain and simple! The emphasis is on writing collaboratively as a group, generating your own ideas, and pitching great premises all in a classic writer's room set-up. There's no homework to worry about, and you'll leave this class with a variety of sketch formulas you can use to begin your comedy writing journey.
The Peoples Improv Theater is offering three different writing workshops from April 21-23, with instructor Chris Aurilio. If you'd like to register for multiple workshops at the same time, you can get a $10 discount per workshop. The full slate:
Chris Aurilio is a writer/director/producer based in New York City. Chris is the co-creator and director of the original pilot Death Lives. He has written and produced live comedy shows since 2008 at The Peoples Improv Theater (The PIT), where he also teaches sketch comedy writing and acting. Chris founded the sketch group The Foolhardy Manor, regularly performing and producing sketch, including the short film BirdmAnnie. In 2014, Chris began performing his evolving character and sketch show, Aurilishow. He is also a producing member of PulpRiot, a production company responsible for live comedy shows and multimedia projects. Chris has written/produced and directed several short films online, including Haunted Cabin: Die-Fi shot at the Haunted Cabin YouTube Space NY Exclusive Set. He holds a master's degree in theater studies from Montclair State University and has created several original plays and children's theater shows.
